Meta has announced the expansion of its monetization features for content creators in Ghana, as communicated by Sade Dada, Meta’s Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa, to the Ministry of Information. This initiative allows creators to earn revenue through Facebook’s in-stream ads, with plans to include ads on reels, enabling creators to generate income from ads placed on their reels on Facebook. Meta also intends to extend these monetization features to Instagram later this year.
To participate, content creators must adhere to Meta’s Partner Monetization Policies and Content Monetization Policies, which impose stricter guidelines than the community standards regarding content and presentation formats. Advertisers must also comply with Meta’s advertising standards, ensuring user protection and fostering meaningful connections between people and businesses.
This monetization expansion aims to empower Ghanaian content creators to earn money locally and utilize advanced tools for managing their online businesses. It represents a significant milestone, enabling creators to enhance their online presence and build their brands.
The Ministry of Information has praised Meta’s investment in Ghana’s digital future and plans to facilitate further collaboration between Meta and the New Media Association of Ghana to explore additional opportunities. The Ministry is optimistic that this expansion will open new avenues for talented creators and contribute to the growth of Ghana’s digital economy.
